Entry into Japan’s Power Supply-Demand Adjustment Market

Exergy Power Systems Inc. (Head Office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Mike Ignas Musel) has begun participating in Japan’s power supply-demand adjustment market as of October 2025 through demand response utilizing distributed energy resources such as battery storage systems.

Specifically, as part of the Energy Resource Aggregation Demonstration Project (Note 1) promoted by Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takashi Ueda) in the Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City, Exergy controls Mitsui Fudosan’s NAS battery storage system using its proprietary Energy Management System (EMS) and has commenced transactions in the supply-demand adjustment market as an aggregator.

Together with Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., Exergy will verify the effectiveness of adjustment power contributions through these transactions. Going forward, the company aims to create fast-response adjustment capacity using its proprietary Exergy Battery® (a power-type storage system), as well as generate diverse forms of balancing power from lithium-ion batteries and generators.

In addition to its existing balancing power business in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Exergy will expand its business in Japan with the goal of becoming a comprehensive aggregator that provides various supply-demand adjustment (flexibility) functions utilizing batteries and generators.
